Monday Requests

I want to start off today's entry with a request that was received this morning. Please keep these boys and their families in your prayers:

Please pray for two seperate family’s in our community who sons committed suicide over the weekend. Please also pray for the High School students who are trying to cope and understand why these two boys felt like they had no where to turn.

Please pray for Jonah. He's got a bad cough and has been throwing up for a few days now.

Continue to pray for Joanne and her family. They are pondering some big life decisions.

Noah and his family can use our prayers today. They got some bad news and are facing some tough decisions as well.

Jamie is coming home in about a week and is making amazing progress daily!

Please pray for Aviana. She is going to need some surgery soon. Please lift her family up in prayer as well.

Keep Matt & Lorraine in your prayers. They may be having their court date today and be one step closer to bring their boys home. Please also pray for all of the children in the orphanage there and all over, that they would be treated well while waiting for their forever families.

Phoebe has started chemo, and so far is doing well. Pray that this continues!

Ashley is enjoying being at home. Pray that they will be blessed with the gift of time.

Pray for Eli that some adjustments they are making will work well and let them avoid having to take more invasive steps. Also pray that those who feel led to make nasty comments to them regarding their care of Eli and their decisions would start following "the golden rule"!

Emerson is dealing with an iron deficiency. Pray that they can get her levels stabilized. Her mom reports that she is doing well otherwise for now.

Taleah is starting chemo again today. Keep her in your prayers.

MADDIE

Maddie’s mom is asking you to support a dear friend who made a big difference in her life. If you could, stop over and place a vote for the friend who helps her “keep her sanity” as she says it.

OWEN

Owen’s had a crud this week as well as the rest of his family. His cath is coming up in two weeks. Pray that he will be able to keep the appointment and have his cath completed.

TALEAH

Taleah is feeling a bit more back to herself. She (and her mom) miss the social part of life but they are working through treatments.

WAVERLY

Waverly has a surgery scheduled for the end of March. They are also still waiting (now over 8 months) for a response in regards to their house. Pray that they get answers quickly.

AVA

Ava is getting her GJ tube replaced in the next few days. They are lining up fluids so that she can avoid being admitted and receive fluids at home.

GAVIN

Gavin’s mom has a free download for Valentine’s cards. They are super cute!

REAGAN

Reagan had a rough night last night. Pray that it is short lived and will be back to happy in no time. Also keep Reagan’s mom is measuring 3 weeks ahead of schedule. She has another appointment next week. Pray for healthy mom and baby.

Hello all. I apologize for not getting any updates out over the weekend. It was a bit hectic.

Noah and his family got some exciting news. However, Noah is still not doing well and really needs prayers.

Phoebe's mom is asking for prayer specifically that they would get some answers.

Jamie continues to make strides daily.

Continue to hold Tripp's mom in your prayers as her heart is so broken.

Aviana's mom is feeling pretty good, and that is great news!

Matt & Lorraine continue their visit in the Ukraine as they are waiting to take their precious boys home.

Joshua is having progression of his systems and it's causing him pain.

Pray for Ashley. 2 years ago she lost her husband unexpectedly and has since been trying to find her new normal and raise their son (who was 5 months old when his dad passed away). She is moving to a new blog, and could use some prayers and support!

Pray for the Lockwood Family. They are missionaries spreading God's message and love in Mexico.

Phoebe's family is settled into their new rental home and are getting ready for her aggressive treatments to begin.

Jamie's husband is becoming overwhelmed at the financial realities of their situation when Jamie is ready to come home. Please lift him up in prayer.

Noah had his catheter change today and it was painful, but he made it through. Please continue to intercede on their behalf.

Continue to keep Courtney in your prayers. Even though Tripp is now safely in the arms of Jesus, his mom is just starting the grieving process and can use all the prayers she can get.

Ashley is enjoying some pain free, laughter filled time. Such a huge praise!

Christian is having some really great days!

Eli and family can definitely use our prayers. Both of his nurses quit this week and he hasn't been feeling well. His parents are exhausted.

Jacob's mom posted a blog entry worth reading. Leave them some prayers.

Jared had to have a visit to the neurosurgeon today and have his shunt adjusted. Pray for this sweet one.

Joshua is starting to feel like he has a "ball" in his head again and it's causing him lots of pain and discomfort.

Owen is working on potty training!

An update from Taleah's mom: She has been complaining of her head hurting a lot. Makes me feel so bad. The emotional breakdowns are the hardest though. Sometimes I feel like my heart is ripping in two. Tough girl though. We will have this week to recover and hopefully make counts for a PCMC visit next Monday.

Waverly is going to be having surgery soon.

Witt received some wonderful news yesterday!!!

Thursday Night Updates and Requests

Good evening all:

Huge praise! Kate's family received the news that there was no change on her MRI, and no visible tumors. God is SO good!!

An update from Noah's mom: Noah is having a significant increase in his edema/ascites. His face, which had slimmed back down, is getting puffy again, but his abdomen is where the worst swelling is. Liver numbers are WAY up - over 1,000 - and he is still very listless. Please keep praying.

Continue to be in prayer for Jamie and her husband, Jayson. Jamie works hard every day trying to gain back skills, and Jayson makes decisions, takes care of the girls, etc.

Pray for Phoebe. She's having surgery tomorrow to have her port placed.

Joshua's mom is having to make some very tough decisions. Please pray for them.

Christian is working on using a "talker"!

Tripp’s earthly body was laid to rest today. Keep on Drumming Lil’ Drummer Boy! Please continue loving on his momma! She needs the continued love, support and prayers.

Owen

Owen had a well check. His mom is thankful for a visit to the Dr. for something other than illness. They are approaching their next cath. Nerves and anxiety is high. In addition, it is near the time that Owen will turn 4. Let’s lift him up in prayer that the increased medication and oxygen are helping his pressures.

Witt

Witt’s family has lots of happy news! Let’s celebrate with them! He is off oxygen and his muscle strength is improving as well! In other big news, Witt has found his voice!

Ava

Ava’s mom has updated a lot this week. On Monday, she was sick but now it appears that she is mending well. They plan to have her new carseat and possibly even a new bed by the summer!

Good evening all:

Keep praying for Noah. His family is going through the awful process of planning a balloon release at the graveside when Noah goes home. He is currently fever free, but in need of a transfusion and feeling weak and listless.

Phoebe is not doing well. Her sodium is not coming down like it should and she's having hallucinations and is feverish.

Josiah is not sleeping well and they are having a very stressful time.

HOPE

Hope is doing well. She recently had her adenoids removed which should help her sleep apnea. Her sister Dakota had an endoscopy on the 5^th to see about Celiac’s Disease. They are working through insurance right now to get a car seat that is safe for Hope. This is an expensive item so keep them and their process with the insurance company(s) in your prayers.

GAVIN

Gavin and his family were able to enjoy the unseasonably warm weather at the beach. His mom is reflecting on a lot right now but has decided to take on a new project. She will be working on her photography skills. If you have a chance, check out her new photography site that is linked up in her blog post.

EMERSON

Emerson spent her first Christmas at home since she was born. She is 5! That is a lot of Christmases in the hospital! They were recently blessed in so many ways… health, generosity of strangers/blog readers, family time, etc. Just a reminder of how important our prayers and love to these families are. Pray for continued health for Emerson. Her mom has allowed medical care to occur in the home which is allowing her to just be “Mom” for the first time in awhile. She is also taking on some new endeavors. Encouragement is always appreciated!

REAGAN

Reagan’s family had a scare at the airport. Thankful that everyone is okay and home safe and sound!

OWEN

Owen has a hospital stay coming up in a few weeks for a cardiac catherization. These never get easier and he is now expressing his 4 yr old anxieties about the trip. Pray over him for peace and understanding about the visit.

ZOEY

Zoey has a new Physical Therapist. They seem to be getting along well and he believes in her. That is a positive change for Zoey.

REBEKAH

Rebekah’s family had a scare tonight shortly after bedtime. Say an extra prayer for the family tonight that she will sleep soundly through the night and wake in the morning to a brand new day.

Jamie is having some anxiety issues, pray that she would feel calm and at ease. Also please pray for her husband, Jayson, that he would be able to find a balance between home, work, their girls, and being with Jamie.

Eli is getting his new cough assist machine tomorrow. Keep them in your prayers.

Jacob and his sister are battling a cold. Send them some love!

Josiah's mom has added some new pictures.

Continue to be in prayer for Phoebe and her family. Her mom has asked specifically for prayers that she would be able to sleep. She is having stressful dreams about Phoebe and her care and it's taking it's toll. Also pray that they would be able to find a home to live in within the next 9 days before Phoebe starts her chemo.

Please keep Jenny in your prayers. Some of you remember that she is Allie's mom. She is going through an emotionally trying time and I know she would appreciate being lifted up.

Brayden's botox injection is not working as well as was hoped. Pray that they can get some answers from the orthopedic surgeon.

Phoebe's family met with the oncologist today and came up with a treatment plan. Pray for guidance for the doctors.

Urgent Prayer Request for Noah

Noah's mom Kate just posted on Facebook:
Temp 104.9 with meds. Up retching every 30-45night minutes all night. Dr. B is on his way over.

Storm Heaven with prayers for them!

Updated 1:00pm EST:
Temp 105.2, throwing up blood (probably b/c his throat is so irritated from so much retching). CRP (infection marker) which should be under 0.3 is 5.8. Platelets falling pretty fast - 150-something Monday, 129 yesterday, 102 today. Some other labs looking rough as well. Lasix has been tripled, phenergan increased to every 6 hours instead of every 8 hours.

Please keep baby Phoebe and her family in your prayers. She is 2 years old and was diagnosed yesterday with a cancerous brain tumor (AT/RT). They can use every prayer and ounce of encouragement they can get right now.

Please also be in prayer for Tripp and his family. He is not doing well, and things are getting bad quickly. He has suffered so much, as has his mom. Please lift them both up tonight.

Kate is having a full brain and spine MRI on Monday, please be in prayer for good results. Also, the family they helped during a Christmas drive just lost their 16-year-old daughter. Please pray for them as well.

Pray for Jamie as she is moving to her new facility today. She also walked 150 feet in rehab yesterday. God is good!

Hello all -

My name is Katie. I have also volunteered to contribute to this blog. I have been a follower and a frequent prayer warrior over the last 2 years. I am a teacher for students with special needs. I also have 3 sons of my own. I am excited to be able to keep others updated on the families that I so often check in on and pray for, as well as meet and update you on some other familiar faces. Thanks for letting me be a part of this great site! I believe in the power of prayer.... so Thank you in advance for joining us in praying for and lifting up these families.

Maddie – Still some challenges with Epilepsy but has officially been cancer free for 5 years! Prayers of Praise!!! Keep her mom lifted up as she continues to strive towards finding the right medication mix to keep the seizures under control.

Rebekah - Prayers of Praise for being off oxygen. Lift her up in prayer for the breathing and coughing difficulties that she is experiencing.

Aidan and Ty– Are in need of prayers for comfort and peace. They are struggling (both children and parents) with the circumstances that are before them.

Waverly and Oliver headed to the beautiful outdoors recently and their mom caught some amazing smiles on camera! Head over and check out their pictures…. I am sure you will smile back. What beautiful children.

Witt's family got a NEW set of Wheels! They got to go on a family trip for Christmas with everyone in the same vehicle. What a fabulous blessing over the holidays!

Tripp's mommy could use some uplifting. Tripp’s care has become difficult because it all causes him extreme pain.

Kristy set some great goals for the start of the New Year.

Linden's family just moved into a new home!

Joshua is loosing a lot of teeth due to osteoporosis of the jaw. Pray that he does not lose any adult teeth.

Aidan has not been doing well. Please send them some prayers and encouragement.

Good Tuesday to all! I've had a hard time getting back into the swing of things now that my kids are back to school after Christmas break and my husband and I are back to work. It was such a nice break, but the smack of reality stings ;) I thought to brighten the day a bit, we'd do a little giveaway!

Some updates, prayer requests and an introduction...

Hi all! This is my first time contributing to this blog and I'd like to start off by thanking Jen for the opportunity! My name is Amy, and I will be one of a small team of gals who will be helping Jen keep the blog updated going forward. A little about me... I'm a married mom of 2 kids (12 & 10). I'm also a full-time financial planning assistant for a fully integrated financial holdings company. But enough about me, let's get to some updates!

Jamie B and her husband Jayson could really use some prayers and encouragement. Jamie was found unconscious in her garage on December 2 and has been recovering from a traumatic brain injury since then. In addition to her continued recovery, they are currently having some issues with which type of facility Jamie should be going to and trying to work things out with insurance.

Ashley is 3 days free of antibiotics for an infection, but there are still a lot of issues and a lot of decisions that need to be made. Take a moment to leave some encouragement for them.

Keep Aviana in your prayers as she works on sitting and standing.

Brayden is doing well, but both of their vans were in accidents within 2 days of each other, so they could use prayers as they deal with their transportation obstacles.

Brody is making some progress in therapy, and his mom is moving into a new chapter as well. They can always use encouragement and prayers.

Carly continues to do well and had a really fun Halloween!

Christian's parents have some decisions to make regarding potential surgeries for their little man and could use some prayers.

Please continue to keep Eli in your prayers, he's very sick!

Give praise for Elijah, he's walking, something the doctors said he'd never do!

Emerson just spent her first Christmas at home in 5 years!

Gaines is doing fantastic! Off oxygen, growing and enjoying life!

Sweet Gracie is raising money for "The Canaries"! Leave them some prayers and encouragement!

An update from Grant's blog: "Grant has continued to thrive in his Post Fontan life. He is playing hard and able to keep up with the other kids and as a result, he is also napping better and sleeping more consistently at night than ever before. It is incredible to me. It has taken me a few months of getting solid REM sleep to not still feel exhausted all of the time, but slowly I am starting to remember what it feels like to not be a walking zombie! "

Continue to pray for Harmonee as she battles against rejection.

Jace's mom updated their page recently: "My lesson learned from 2011 is that you can't predict the future. Well, we all knew that right, but to truly be able to experience an improvement in Jacob's mitochondrial disorder is something we didn't expect. Noone could have predicted that, but it did happen! That is what I will bring with me in to the new year." Great news!

Please keep Jared's sister, Braylynne, and their entire family in your prayers as they are dealing with the effects of Jared's condition on his sibling. We sometimes forget that illnesses and conditions effect the entire family and they can always use our prayers and support!

Keep Joshua in your prayers. He's been having some "off" days.

An update on Josiah's blog: "We have only 5 days til disney. The kids are excited, especially Isaiah. I think this will be a once in a lifetime trip. We will be cramming so many things into a week, i will need to come home and sleep for a week. I am done working now as of this week. Something will come up for me, I just hope soon. I want some changes to happen soon,I want to move, and we really need to so we can accomadate Josiahs needs better. Its getting really hard to carry him up flights of stairs to bed, to the tub, no wheelchair access into my house. Its just really cramped in here with all his medical stuff" Keep them in your prayers!

Karina's mom could use some encouragement. Please take a moment to visit and leave her some uplifting words.

Things are very tough for Kate and her family. Keep them in your prayers and send them some encouragement.

Maddie is doing well, but Brandon is still deployed. Pray for his safe return SOON!

Hello long lost friends! I hope each of you have had a wonderful Christmas and Holiday season.. It seems like it all came and went in a snap, I cannot believe next week it will be 2012.. it seems crazy to me!

So, I love this blog, and agreed to take it over because I honestly thought I would have more time to really keep it up.. and honestly I haven't had time to keep this or my personal blog up.. I haven't had a chance to blog hop or check in on anyone in a long time. So this is my question, for now is there anyone out in bloggy land that would care to take on updating now and then? I will still help whenever possible, but would LOVE to have someone that has time and willingness to assist...if so leave a comment here (with your email address) and I will email you with details..

Also I am going to try to update some of the lists while I have a few minutes..if you have any updates or want to add/remove/rename (i.e any changes) please let me know here in the comments..

I did want to ask for some urgent prayer for 2 year old Eli and his family. He became gravely ill on Christmas eve and has been fighting for his life..

Also pray for sweet Noah E and his family. He is on Hospice and is really struggling to hang on..pray for peace and comfort and healing for both of these families..

Please pray for the Austin family as their sweet little baby Noah was born and passed only 19hrs later.Saying Hello and good bye at the same time, must be one of the hardest things a parent could do..

Emerson is also in need of prayer, what a little fighter they have!

Kate is getting radiation treatment, and is in need of prayer.

Morgan is undergoing new experimental treatment in California at the moment, Her mom Dasa is also 7 months pregnant, I know they certainly appreciate being lifted up in prayer. (this is a fb link, but open to anyone to view)

And my computer is freezing once again. I really am trying to keep up with the needs of those on the list and certainly appreciate any comment/emails being sent to me.. seems the 'web surfing' and page to page is too much for my old computer this week.. SO if you know of any urgent prayer requests, leave them here or email and I will post ASAP. I will try to get on the laptop tonight and get more through the lists..

22-month-old Nathan Phillips was put on Hospice yesterday and doctors say it's a matter of hours or days. He's been a fighter his whole life and has a precious precious precious family, including twin brother, Jacen.

This is Carla, she will be 4 on April 2, 2011, has HLHS and is currently on a vent and awaiting a new heart. Please pray for this little girl as well as her family.

Hello new and old friends! My name is Jen and the beautiful and wonderful Christy has asked if I would help by taking over this site, and of course I was thrilled to. She has done such a great job of caring for this site and all of those listed on this site for a very long time. I am thankful that someone had placed our daughter Ella on here while we were fighting for her life. The prayers were certainly felt and appreciated.

To all Safe Haven readers,
I don't know how to say what is on my heart right now. Safe Haven has been such a part of my life for a long time now, and letting it go is hard. But it is time for me to pass the torch and move on. I believe the Lord has used this blog is huge ways, maybe even more than we can understand, and I believe it will only continue to touch many more. The power of prayer is miraculous. Thank you so much for checking in on the prayer requests posted here, and for praying. I am sorry that the last several months this blog has been neglected, but that is soon going to change. I am giving the blog over to my good friend Jen, that I actually met through this blog, and many of you have prayed for her. I thank her publicly for the help she has been lately, and for taking this on. God is moving me on to different things, so I ask for your prayers for that.
I will keep checking on these sweet families, and praying for them daily.
I just wanted to say goodbye, and thanks so much.

also please pray for sweet Morgan, her family lost her 5 year old sister March 2010, and now Morgan (4 yrs) is suffering the same disease. She was discharged last week to go home on hospice.. This is the same disease my daughter had and is so aggressive and so rapid, once the symptoms start, its just a matter of time befor they are gone..the link is a FB page, but it is open to anyone..

They all have forms of mitochondrial disease~Mitochondria exist in nearly every cell of the human body, producing 90 percent of the energy the body needs to function. In a person with mitochondrial disease, the mitochondria are failing and cannot convert food and oxygen into life-sustaining energy. For many, mitochondrial disease is an inherited genetic condition, while for others the body's mitochondria can be affected by other environmental factors. What is happening with these little ones is that the mitochondria (little power houses) are not getting to where they need to go in the body. This causes respiratory, liver, kidney and other sorts of organ failure. Please pray hard for Logan. He is on the transplant list for a heart and been in the hospital again. As of late last night he has been moved into the CVICU in Houston and is not doing very well at all.. please pray for God to cover his little body until a heart can come. Audra had an MRI and it came back clear! She is doing PT and re-learning to walk! what wonderful news!

Kate started her first day of kindergarten this week after having a negative pet scan last week..what a blessing!

The showers of prayers for our family offered us peace like we could have never imagined. We were and still are so sad we lost her, but the Lord provides us light in our darkest hours..so please take the time to love on these families posted and for those yet to be posted and feel free to share any new requests and links, because it makes a big difference to the effected families...

Wow. I can't believe how long it has been since I have updated this blog. I feel so bad for letting it go this long. I am in the process of getting helpers so we can get this thing going again. First I want to say thank you for all of your responses. I really, really appreciate all of the kind words of encouragement. Some of your comments had me in tears, and I heard the Lord's voice in your words. I was getting so behind on updating, I felt bad even trying because it has been so long. I have had offers from some of you to help, and I think I will take you up on it. I want to say thank you to those of you that offered, and tell you I will be in touch with you soon. I also want to address a few comments/questions:

1. There was a suggestion to organize the prayer list by category, those going through the same diagnosis. This would also give those going through the same thing a way to find others that have something in common, and provide a sort of support group. I think this is a fabulous idea, and I will be making those changes soon. Thank you!

2. There was a question about making a list of the prayer requests so you can check them yourself. If you look at the top of the blog, the different lists are across the top, and if you click on them, it will take you right to the list. I used to have them all listed out on the side but it made the blog so long to scroll through, I seperated them into different pages.

3. There was another suggestion to list the requests so that the ones most recently updated will be at the top. I do not know if the pages I am using will allow that, but I will look into it, because that is a great idea. It would allow for ease of knowing who has posted an update.

4. Someone metioned having the comments set to where I do not need to ok them before they are published. The reason I had it set like this is because I was getting a ton of spam. It has seemed to ease up though, so I will change the comments settings. Thanks for this input.

Thanks for all your ideas. You ladies (and guys?) are awesome and I appreciate you. I know God does too. I will be working on some changes and hopefully some updates will start posting soon.

In the meantime, here are some prayer requests that I feel HORRIBLE about not being posted. Please forgive me.

Logan has been listed for a heart transplant. His little heart has too much scarring on it. Please keep him in your prayers, and I have moved his blog button back to the prayer requests list.

I commented on my last update that Jace's blog was gone, and someone left a comment that he is doing so much better that his mom took his page down. Praise Jesus!!! :)

This is Harmonee. She suffers from Biliary Atresia, and had a liver transplant on May 14th. Now, she is having some signs of rejection. Please add her to your prayers!

I have been terrible at updating this blog lately, and I feel, well, terrible about it. I just wanted to share my heart for a minute today, and hope for some feedback. I think lack of feedback on here has been discouraging to me as well. This blog has grown so much, and I am so happy about that. But, when I sit down to do an update, it takes me anywhere from 3 to 4 hours. And anyone with little kids will understand how difficult that is. Not to mention I also have so much else going on, my blogging has seriously fallen by the wayside. I need some ideas. I want so much to be able to keep up with each and every prayer request on this blog, but it is next to impossible. I am leaning towards just posting new requests, and maybe if some of you guys could let me know if there is something serious going on with someone I can post that too. I don't really know what to do, but I know I want to keep this blog going, somehow. I do have some new requests to post but haven't been able to yet. I hope to be able to sit down and do it today. So if you have any ideas or comments, please, please pass it on. I'm at a loss here.

Making Plans......National Infertility Awareness Week

I got married when I was 20 years old. My husband and I had been together for over 3 years and I felt it was time. I know some people would say that was young, but I didn't care. I knew what I wanted and I was ready to be a wife and soon a mother. I had always planned to have kids when I was young. My mom was 18 when she had my brother and 21 when she had me. Because of that my grandparents are younger and my great-grandmother, who is 96, is still living. I wanted my children to know their grandparents and great grandparents. So when I got married I had a plan. Soon I realized that plan would not come to fruition because my husband was still in school and I was the main money maker, so having children was put on hold. We were finally ready right after my 26th birthday. We amazingly got pregnant really quickly. I always had this thought that it would be hard for me to have children because my cycles were so screwy. Sadly we would go on to lose that baby at 12wks. That was the day my life changed forever and my journey with infertility began.

Even throughout my 4 years of infertility I would still find myself making plans...if I got pregnant in this month then the baby would be born in this month, I can't go on that vacation because I will be too pregnant, I want to have my first child before I am 30... None of my plans ever worked out. I eventually had to admit I was not in control and I had nothing to do with when/if I would have a baby. It is hard to let go of that control when you are in the midst of fertility treatments. Taking medications, shots, having sonograms and blood work. Realizing that all you are doing and all the money you are spending may not end in a baby. But that is how it goes when you give your life to Jesus. He is in control, I guess He is really in control even if you don't believe in Him, but at least believing in Him means there is peace and grace and mercy.

During my infertility struggles I became pregnant 5 times and each time I lost a baby (my son had a twin). While in the trenches of my heartache and suffering I could not fathom how any of this pain would come to good. I tried my hardest (not doing very well many times) to believe that God's plan for my life was the best. Knowing that He wept when I wept and that He saw my pain. When I was at my lowest after my 3rd miscarriage I sought my pastor for some wisdom. He challenged me to give everything about my desire to be a mother, the good and the bad, to God. He even suggested that I physically do it. So I went out and bought a box and I decorated it all pretty. Anytime I had a negative test I would put it in the box and tell God that I knew He was in control. Whenever I had a miscarriage I would write about the pain and the heartache and put the note in the box and tell God that my life was wholly in His hands. I cannot describe how much the physical act of giving things to Him helped me. I would suggest that if you are really struggling that you give it a try, and I would love to know how it works for you.

Sadly I cannot tell you how or when your journey will end, only God knows those answers. But what I can tell you is that He does care and He does see your pain and heartache. He is always there for you. He is ok with you being mad at Him and maybe even screaming and shaking your fist. But that part of the grieving process must end and you must realize that His plan is the best plan, even if our earthly eyes cannot see it.

During this time, pray for our girls who are struggling with infertility, and maybe leave some encouragement on their blogs: Kristen, Tiffany, and Michelle. Still praising the Lord for Rosie and Derek's new little blessing, Gavin! If you want to keep up to date on their little family, I moved their button to the "Miracles" tab.

Continue prayers for Avalon and for her doctors as they run tests to see what is causing her problems she has been having.

Remember Brayden during his doctor visit tomorrow, his counts were a little high.

Please pray for Brinley, there is a possibility she might have relapsed. Pray for her and her family too!

Gabe has pneumonia, please pray for a quick recovery for him.

Grace is wearing a patch on her eye to try and heal it so she will not need surgery, please pray for success and that no surgery will be needed.

Josiah has been sick, please pray for quick healing.

Pray for Lindsay, she has been in the hospital with pneumonia and RSV. She is home now, but keep praying for quick recovery.

Baby Luke had some issues with some very low sodium levels. He will be having an MRI in May to see if there were any effects in his brain, please pray for good results.

Pray for Tripp's eyes, he is still having lots of pain and swelling in them. Pray that they heal up soon!

Remember Dylan in your prayers, he has glaucoma, and it looks pretty bad. Pray that the drops he is taking will clear it up.

Jaxson's family is adopting a little girl from Eastern Europe, through Reece's Rainbow! Here is their adoption blog to raise funds to bring Makayla home!

Gwendolyn had a scare and stopped breathing, she is fine but the family is struggling to recover and stressed. Please pray for peace for them.

Keep Jonah in your prayers this week, he will be having surgery Thursday (the 29th) to have a g-tube put in. Pray for peace for his parents, and for safety. There are a lot of things that can go wrong for him during the surgery. Pray for protection!

Reagan's mother left this prayer request:

"I have a prayer request...
After 2+ years of nonstop seizures Reagan has been seizure free for 4 months (thank God). But a few days ago we saw some weird eye movements and then yesterday she did something that looked like a startle (or an infantile spasm). She did it a few times and then it gradually increased to every 20seconds or so. Very scary. Please pray that it's not seizures again. Some sort of neurological quirk I can handle, but not seizures."

Philip will be having two surgeries in the next few weeks, keep him in your prayers.

Pray for Veiyah and her parents as they make important decisions about her heart in the next few months.

This is Chrissie, a little girl adopted from Eastern Europe. She was brought to the United States for a life saving heart surgery, and had her operation on the 19th, last Monday.

This is Lillian. She was born on March 22, 2010 with several conditions. She's already had one surgery to correct her diaphragmatic hernia (on April 7, 2010) but will continue to struggle with Turner Syndrome and Agenesis of the Corpus Callosum. Lauren, Lillian's mother, is trying to be strong for her baby with the support of her family, friends and God. Lillian's father is not in her life. Currently, Lillian is at Texas Children's Hospital in the Level III NICU.

This is Tara, she lost her baby yesterday morning. He had a birth defect that prevented him from living life outside the womb. Please pray for this family during this very difficult time. I have added her blog to the "Angel Families" tab, under her little boy's name, Benaiah.

I have been reading Leviticus lately. Have you ever read that book? If not you really should. It is quite fascinating all that God tells Moses and the Israelites. The book is about "the law", which was a huge list of rules that the Israelites had to live by to prove their love to God. There were consequences for breaking the law, sometimes even death. The law is very thorough. It amazes me how specific it is. Here are a few versus from Leviticus 12.

"The LORD said to Moses, 2 "Say to the Israelites: 'A woman who becomes pregnant and gives birth to a son will be ceremonially unclean for seven days, just as she is unclean during her monthly period. 3 On the eighth day the boy is to be circumcised. 4 Then the woman must wait 33 days to be purified from her bleeding. She must not touch anything sacred or go to the sanctuary until the days of her purification are over. 5 If she gives birth to a daughter, for two weeks the woman will be unclean, as during her period. Then she must wait 66 days to be purified from her bleeding."

This is just a little snippet of the book. There are much more in depth parts of the law. My point here is that the Israelites were not "saved by grace" like we are, they were bound by the law. They had to know it and live by it every day. Thank you Jesus that is not the case today!!!

Have you ever just sat in awe of God's grace? Have you ever really pondered the meaning of God's grace? Grace is one of my favorite words, actually it is what I will probably name a future daughter (when/if God blesses me with one!!). First off, let's look at the definition of grace. Dictionary.com says, "the freely given, unmerited favor and love of God". How wonderful!!! From this it looks as though I do nothing to deserve God's grace, He chooses to freely give it to me in spite of who I am. That is wonderful, considering I would never be good enough to earn it. That is why God sent Jesus to save us, people couldn't live by the law. People are inherently flawed and sin. God knew the only way He could save us from eternal damnation was through sacrificing His son. Ok that seriously is the best news ever! I say all this to remind you to think about God's grace for you. He loves you unconditionally and forever. There is nothing you can ever do to make Him stop loving you!! He is always here for you in the moment of your pain and heartache and He will love you like no one else can.

I leave you with one of my all time favorite songs. The lyrics to this song are so true, and beautiful and they make my soul sing. I have bolded the best part. I hope they move you like they move me and they speak of God's grace and unending love to your soul.

"On March 23rd, she was airlifted to North Memorial Hospital in Minnesota. Kristin had several blood clots in both legs, her kidneys weren't functioning, and she had an infection in her aorta. She was heavily sedated and time was given to allow her to heal on her own.

On Friday, April 1st, Kristin underwent her surgery to have her right leg amputated as well as a portion of her left foot. She doesn't know this has happened to her as she's been sedated since prior to her surgery.

At some point in time this week - it's looking like she will be allowed to wake up. Her doctors will explain to Kristin what has happened - and she will be surrounded by those who love her while they do.

Currently, she is still very much asleep in an effort to control her pain level. She is on direct dialysis (which runs 24/7) and her kidneys were still without much function.

I don't know much about the infection in her heart - but will find out and will keep you posted!"

I wanted to say that I am so sorry it has been so long since I have posted an update here. It has been a stressful month for me and I haven't spent very much time online. I hope that you all have been keeping up with the kiddos on here and I also hope nothing serious has happened with anyone in my absence. Plase pray for me and that things will calm down for me. Again, so sorry that this update has been such a long time coming.

Shubert Family: They will be leaving for Taiwan on Easter Sunday! Please be in pray for them during this process. Also they are having trouble with their VISA's, please pray that this will get worked out.

Beckham: Has been diagnosed with Evans Syndrome, and is having troubles with side effects from this. Pray for healing.

"We have a friend who's little boy, Witt has been in the hospital for most of his 16 months of life. Emerson had a perfect time at Disneyworld for her Make-A-Wish trip, praise the Lord! Although, now she is back in the hospital fighting another infection. Please pray for healing!

I wanted to post about a new resource. This is from Lesli Westfall, and this is her ministry, Dancing Upon Barren Land. Here is a little about it that I took from her website:

Ok, so I just finished some changes......I added tabs at the top to seperate all the different categories. It's pretty much grouped the same as when everything was on the sidebar, except the resources page is a little different. I thought maybe this would make it easier, and save a lot of scrolling, because the sidebar was getting quite long! I also tried to keep everything pretty current, and I removed some sites that were no longer active, and some fundraisers that have closed. I hope this helps....comments? Questions?

Kate will begin her new chemo treatment on Monday. This will be a long and difficult time of isolation and strong chemo and radiation. Remember Maddie in your prayers, she is still suffering greatly from seizures with no relief.

Worry

At church a couple weeks ago the pastor said, "Worry is a misery we choose". I had never heard it put that way, but it really spoke to me. I am not a stranger to worry at all, even before fertility treatments and miscarriages. I grew up with a very manic step father. Everyday on the bus on the way home from school I would wonder which dad would be waiting for me; the fun, happy go lucky one, or the angry, mean one? It was so bad that at the age of 13 I was diagnosed with an ulcer and put on medication. Thankfully a couple of years later I got a boyfriend (that had a car!), then got a car and then a job, so I spent less and less time at home.

In my early adult life I really did well not worrying. I realized that I basically had no control over things so what was the point. That all ended after that very first miscarriage. My world was rocked and my naivety about pregnancy was gone. Every pregnancy after that I tried so hard not to worry that things would go wrong. I think I did ok, but worry was always around the corner.

Why do we worry? What good does it do? Can it change the outcome of anything? I'm sure we all know the answers to those questions. Worry really is a misery, or a prison. A place we choose that makes our lives even harder than they are. All of our lives would be so much easier if we could truly lay it all down at the feet of Jesus and believe with our whole heart that He is in control. Wouldn't it be so much better if in those moments of worry we could pray instead? I'm sure prayers are much more productive than worrying, and think of the peace your heart would have.

Matthew 6:25-34

25"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? 26Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life[b]?
28"And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. Also, please pray that Gaines avoids Reed's cold. Reed has a pretty good cough and runny nose that I'm hoping we can keep Gaines from catching."

"Please join us in praying for relief for Brayden. He’s been in a lot of pain over the last week in his lower back, his ribs. He has a lot of trouble walking at times. We’re also praying for safe travels to Little Rock Wednesday and that the weather will hold out for us to make it there and back. We’re praying his bone marrow is able to kick in and keep new, baby, healthy cells growing. We pray for peace for Brayden's heart and his resiliency he's exhibited to keep propelling him forward. Eden has had a virus this week, pray for quick healing and that it does not go into anything worse. Pray her lungs stay protected.

I feel that sometimes christians think they are above suffering. I mean, Jesus suffered and died for us so we could have this happy, go lucky life...right? Fortunately that is not the case. Even though Jesus died for us we still live in a fallen and sinful world. A world where bad things happen to good people every minute of every day. A world that is so hard and so cold most of the time, I'm not sure how any of us stay hopeful for the future.

I just know that God is good ALL THE TIME!!! Even when our life circumstances don't seem to prove it. I know we all have questions that we would love for Him to answer, but that is where faith comes into the picture. We have faith that God is in control and that one day we will get the answers to those questions. For now we must remember that He is good and that He will NEVER leave or forsake us.

Below are lyrics from a song by Tim Hughes. One of my very best friends played this song when the women of my church were having a prayer meeting for me. So many nights I would lay in bed with my ipod and listen to this song as I cried. These words were and still are the cry of my heart. They've run tests but nothing is coming back with any answers. The only idea anyone has is that her seizure medication, the one that has finally made her seizure free after 2 horrendous years of nonstop constant seizing, is causing the vomiting. They want to lower the dosage to see if that's it, but I am terrified that this is going to bring her seizures back. Terrified. Please keep it in your prayers that this change won't have any negative effects on her and that they will find the true cause for the vomiting."

I am so happy to post this! This is Rian, she is a new guest writer for Safe Haven. This is her first post, just a little bit of who she is and what she has been through. I hope you enjoy this, and I look forward to much more to come!

Hi everyone, my name is Rian. Let me tell you a little bit about myself. My husband and I have been married for 10 years. We started trying to conceive in December of 2004. We quickly became pregnant, much to my surprise. At my 12wk ultrasound I found out the baby had stopped growing at 10.5wks. I was devestated. I really didn't know how I would go on living. My dream of being a mother had been stolen from me. That was just the beginning of my journey to start a family. Over the next 4 years I would see a Reproductive Endocrinologist, be diagnosed with PCOS (poly cystic ovarian syndrome), do 8 rounds of clomid and suffer 3 more miscarriages. Then in February of 2008 I became pregnant again after an IUI with injectible medication. Of course I was on pins and needles the whole time. I had weekly sonograms to check the baby and everything always looked great. At 8wks4days I passed out while getting ready for work. My husband called 911 and I was rushed to the hospital. I was in the worst pain I had ever been in in my entire life. Eventually I was taken to emergency surgery. I had what they call a Heterotopic pregnancy. In my case I had a baby in the uterus and one in my right tube. My tube had burst and my abdomen was full of blood. As I type this I am just flooded with how good God really is. It is only by His grace that the baby in my uterus was unharmed and continued to grow and thrive. My son was born 11-17-2008.

I am not going to lie to you and say that I enjoyed my journey to motherhood, because I didn't. But if I had to do it over again I don't know if I would change anything. Yes those were the worst 4 years of my life, and yes it would be wonderful if I never had to lose a child, but those years taught me so much. I know that the woman and mother I am today is because of all the pain and suffering I endured. God is using all of those experiences for His good. I always tried to remember that He had a plan, somewhere, somehow. That was not always easy and I did have my moments of depression and anger. The verse that helped me most is Romans 15:13

"May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit."

I had to realize that my hope was in Him. Not in modern medicine and fertility treatments. Not in timing everything just right. Not in having a baby and being a mother. Not in this world, but in HIM. He had a plan for my life. And regardless of what my heart wanted His plan was better than mine. My hope was that the life he wanted me to live would bring glory to Him and His kingdom. That is still my hope and my heart's desire.

Now that my son is here I can see some of God's plan working. My son was born with such an amazing testimony. He truly is a miracle. I love to tell the story of my journey and of his time in my womb. I love the glory that it brings to God. It is only by His grace that my son survived all that we went through. Emergency surgery, tons of anestheia and drugs and he is perfect. I am so excited to see the plan that God has for him. I truly believe that with a beginning like his that God has mighty things for him to do.

This world is such a dark and cold place. So many mothers, children and families have to endure so much pain and heartache. Sometimes it is just too overwhelming for me to even think about. I pray that you can have His hope in the face of your sufferings. That you can trust in Him and His plan for you and your life and the life of your family and children. He truly is good and He will not let your pain and heartache be for nothing.

I leave you with a couple verses that I hope will bring you some hope and peace.

"Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us." Romans 5:3-5

"I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us." Romans 8:18

Aside from the requests listed below, I want us to remember every family on our lists during this week and the next as we all celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday. Remember our angel families as they will be missing their loved ones, and the families with sick ones who are unable to be home to celebrate with family. Let's pray extra hard during these next two weeks, and lift them up to our Father!

Pray for Brayden this week and next as he goes through his final chemo treatment.

Pray for Brayden Alexander who has a cold. Pray that it goes away quickly and stays out of his lungs!

Abby's mom is going to see the perinatologist thie morning. Pray for a good report for momma and baby.

Pray for Brinley this week during her steroid treatments.

Sunday evening, little Gavin went home to be with Jesus. Please pray for his family. His memorial service will be next Sunday, November 15th.

Pray for Isaiah, his liver counts are high and will be doing testing this week.

Jace has been diagnosed with Angelman Syndrome. Here is a prayer request from his mom:

"Please say some extra prayers for us as we move forward and adjust to the reality that Jace will need full-time care for the rest of his life. He is on the severe side, and the delays are significant. His feeding issues are VERY problematic again and I pray that we can find some resolution for his comfort."

Layla was supposed to receive her bone marrow transplant on Monday, but she started running a fever. Pray that she gets well soon so they can proceed with the transplant.

Pray for Maryn's mom as she continues to try and do everything she can to help her daughter. Pray for grace!

We don't know for sure, but it's very possible that tomorrow (Friday) at my specialist appt. they'll be sending us over for immediate delivery.
These days there are as many risks for her to be "in" as there are risks for her to be "out" ... we just can't win.
I'm scared out of my mind, but trying to remain positive. Sadie wasn't suppossed to make it to 15 weeks, much less this far (31 weeks), I'm not about to give up on her now. The fear of the unknown is the worst. I can imagine this would be extemely difficult no matter the situation, but the fact that we have 3 other children to worry about at home .. only makes it that much more complicated."

I apologize that it has been so long since I have updated. It has been a very crazy week for me, and I have just now had time to sit down and read through the blogs. I only have time right now to update about half of them, I will do my best tomorrow to get to the rest. Thanks for sticking with me!

"This round I have been praying every time I give Kate her chemo. Giving the drugs brings grief knowing the potential risks and in the same breath hope knowing it is destroying the tumor cells. So I pray as it courses through her body. So I wanted to ask you to pray as she gets it. She gets one at 6:30 and one at 8:30 Arizona time of course. So if you are awake we would love for you to pray specifically for her at those times. Pray for the severe stomach pains, pray for when her body has no immune function, pray for her liver, kidneys and hearing and pray for protection against any other malignancies in the future. We know Jesus loves the prayers of his people. So thank you for joining us in this."

I really get a huge blessing from reading their blogs, and I have never personally struggled with infertility. They really are annointed women of God!

This is Hannah; she is four years old and just very recently she was diagnosed with leukemia. She has also had a few strokes, and is not able to control her body. She has had some really tough times, and really needs our prayers.

This is Brody; he is 19 months old, and while at the babysitters, he crawled through a doggy door and fell into the pool. Please add him to your prayers!

PRAY!

Request from Nevaeh's momma:

"Please pray for Nevaeh, she is having a rough time with this last chemo treatment. The doses were raised and she has been having a rough week due to it. She is losing lots of weight too. The doctors are concerned. We are doing all we can to get her to eat, but nothing is really working. We are trying liquids high in calories and she is drinking them some. This is a hard time for the family. She is looking weaker and paler and so much thinner. She starts a NRE cycle next week that is a rough cycle. We are praying that all goes well for her. Please keep us in your prayers."

Please pray for Michelle, she lost the baby Thursday night. Please pray for this family, and leave some encouragement for them.

Jess had an ultrasound and visit with the specialist on Thursday, and everything looks great! Please remember them in your prayers as delivery draws closer, and as they are still missing little Cora.

Brayden begins another round of chemo today. Pray for protection for his heart and organs, and from infection.

Pray for Eden today, they are doing some tests on her bowels to see if there is an obstruction. Please pray that whatever they find does not require surgery.

Elijah and his family needs prayers. He was just diagnosed Cerebral Palsy, and his big brother is having tests run for Aspergers. Pray for this little family.

Prayers for Gaines:

"Also, I think that Gaines is making some progress with his head control and development. He's doing better about not holding his head so far back and has been playing with his toys a good bit. Please keep this prayer request in mind this week...I really would love it if you all would pray for his head control to keep developing. He has to get that down before he can master sitting up, standing, walking etc. I'll feel so much better about things once we have that under control. Its probably my biggest concern right now...he's doing great on his oxygen."

Be in prayer for Gavin, he is still having a lot of struggles, especially with sleeping. Pray for rest for his body!

JJ is having surgery tomorrow to replace his shunt. Be in prayer for him.

Lindsay has been in the hospital since last Wednesday. They thought she was rejecting her heart, but she isn't, praise God! She is still there, and they are trying to figure some more things out, so please pray that she will be able to go home soon.

Pray for Kristen this week, she is trying a new medication.

Jenny is scheduled to have her c-section this Friday! Please pray for safety for her, and for little Ezekiel.

Remember Brayden during this new chemo treatment; for protection from mouth sores, and from side effects from steroids. Also for all the nausea that comes with it.

Eden will be having surgery on her eyes Friday. Here are some specific prayer requests:

"Please pray that God will protect her vision and those tiny eyes. Please pray that the surgery will go perfectly, with no complications for her tiny body. We are not sure yet, but are assuming that they will re-intubate her in order to give pain meds - please pray that this will not cause any further damage to her lungs and that she'll come off of it and be back to her current respiratory rock-star status. We are kind of stressed about this whole thing, but are begging God to protect her sight...
Please pray!!"

Mikayla has a bone marrow aspirate test this week to see if there are any leukemia cells. Please pray for good results!

I received this prayer request today from Michelle. Let's lift her up in prayer, and send her some love and encouragement!

"Could you please pass on a prayer request for myself? My name is Michelle and I am 32 years old. I live in the UK with my husband and 6 month old son. I have a rare blood condition called afibrinogenemia (no fibrinogen to clot my blood). I just recently found out I am pregnant again, about 6 weeks. The national health system (NHS) here in England is refusing to treat me until they get approval from the trust to fund another pregnancy. Without treatment I will miscarry my baby and almost did this past Friday, I started bleeding and lost 1 pint of blood. But thanking God that the pregnancy is still hanging on. The doctors have seen a gestational sac but have not seen the baby yet. Please pray that God will guide the NHS Trust committee in the right direction to allow us to give life to this wonderful blessing and not refuse us as I will miscarry because fibrinogen is needed to keep the pregnancy in place. Please pray I don't miscarry before they make a decision. Thank you and God Bless."

Pray for Stephanie and little baby Sadie. Her last ultrasound showed some fluid on Sadie's heart, and possibly a small hole. Be in prayer for health and safety as her due date draws near.

Brayden begins his last 2 month round of chemo today. Pray that his heart stays protected during this time, and for his spianl fluid draw to be clear of leukemia cells.

JJ is in the hospital with an infected shunt; they are going to do surgery and replace it. Please keep this little one in your prayers!

Pray for Kate! She is in a lot of pain from sores in her mouth and tummy from the chemo. She has also been running fevers.

Baby KJ has just been diagnosed with hip dysplasia. Be in prayer that this can be corrected without surgery.

Olivia is at 16 days old, and still with her family! Please keep praying for her!

Dylan is having an MRI today, please pray for comfort during this, that his little body will handle the anesthesia well, and for good results.

Baby Sam has a follow up ECO on his heart today, pray for continued good health.

Pray for Pierce, he is in the hospital with an infection in his central line.

I had the procedure done on Monday, and actually the tube is still blocked, so we will have to do a further procedure before moving forward with trying again. This was a little frustrating, just because of being ready to move forward, but also I know it is a part of the process that we have to go through. Jaxson goes to the hospital tomorrow to begin pre-op for his cath surgery on Friday. Keep this little one in your prayers!

Charity is in the hospital with an infection, and will need another vesicostomy procedure done. Here are some specific prayer requests:

"-Please pray for my wife Elizabeth who is with Charity tonight, that they both sleep well
-Pray for the gang at home that we all would get rest
-Pray that during this time we would be able to be a light to others at the hospital"

Please remember the Karg family as they are struggling with the loss of Veiyah's twin sister, Aderah. Her first birthday is September 25th. Keep this family in your prayers!

This is the Tellinghuisen Family. They have a son, Aidan, that was born with lissencephaly, microcephaly and intractable epilepsy. They just had a new baby boy a few days ago, and he was also born with some similar symptoms as his older brother. Please add this family to your prayers!

Here's a new button for Baby Sam! I posted it in the "Praying for Healing" column.

Pray for Brinley; she has been pretty sick and has been having a rough time.

Eden is having some skin problems, pray for her infection to clear up.

Keep praying for Gavin, and also for his sister as he is still pretty sick.

Isaiah had a minor surgery yesterday because of an infection, please pray for quick recovery and no more infection!

Prayers for Kate:

"Tomorrow (Monday) Kate goes to outpatient clinic to see how she is recovering. Please pray that her counts are good, and getting better. We definitely desire a good week at home before having to start the next round. Also, please pray for rest, as Kate is hooked up to a pump that feeds her all night long, and causes all of us a little less sleep. Lastly, I ask you to pray for protection for Kate from outside sickness. All of this talk about H1N1, and other viruses takes on a whole new threat level in terms of Kate's immunity, and our sanity."

Mikayla needs prayers, her leukemia test came back at 61%; pray for wisdom and for healing.

Prayers for Rebekah:

"We have a few very definite prayer requests for Rebekah's g-tube surgery. First, please pray that Rebekah will not get sick or come down with an infection before, during or after her surgery. Second, please pray for wisdom for the doctors as they complete the g-tube and Nissen procedures. Third, please pray for quick healing and recovery time for Rebekah. Lastly, please pray for our family as we are apart while Rebekah has her surgery, and for Grammy while she is here with the boys. Thankfully, the doctors are projecting no more than a week if everything goes well."

Jaxson will be having surgery on Friday; please pray for him this week!
